Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei calls AI backlash a crisis of trust, not a messaging problem

Amodei pushed back publicly on August 15-16 against investor pressure to soften his safety warnings, arguing public hostility toward AI reflects decades of institutional distrust and will not be fixed by a PR pivot.

Anthropic posts $11.5 billion Q2 revenue and positive operating income ahead of October IPO

Anthropic's preliminary Q2 2026 results show revenue above $11.5 billion, more than 14 times the same quarter last year, and the company's first positive adjusted operating income. Investors targeting a $2 trillion October listing now have an actual completed quarter behind the valuation.

Cursor Review (August 2026): Buy, Hold, or Switch Before the SpaceX Deal Closes

SpaceX's $60B acquisition of Cursor is set to close this quarter. Here is the buy, hold, or switch call for solo devs, small teams, and enterprise as of August 5, 2026, with current pricing and the model-access risk.

Pros
  • The editor itself has not changed since the acquisition news: same models, same pricing, same team, and no feature freeze in the changelog
  • The Tab model still predicts multi-file edits and Composer still applies one instruction across a change set, so the product that earned the rating is intact
Cons
  • A 7-month-old Windows git.exe auto-execution flaw was still unpatched as of the July 14 disclosure, after 70+ releases shipped without a fix, per Developers Digest
  • SpaceX owns xAI and just shipped Grok 4.5 trained on Cursor interaction data, so the company that will own your editor also builds a rival model with a reason to become the default

Cursor is still the strongest AI editor you can install today, and nothing about the SpaceX deal has degraded the product yet. For a solo developer on Pro at $20/mo, keep it and stay month-to-month; the switching cost outweighs the risk for now. For a small team of 3 to 10, do not sign an annual Teams contract before the deal closes; pay the $40/user monthly rate over the $32 annual rate and treat the $8/user premium as insurance during the uncertainty window. For enterprise buying 50-plus seats, require written model-access and data-routing guarantees in the contract, because a company that owns a rival model asking you to trust a verbal 'nothing is changing' is the whole risk in one sentence. The half point below a 4.5 is the unpatched git.exe issue and the ownership overhang, not the editor.

Make Review July 2026: Private Spaces, GPT-5.6, and Whether the 4.4 Holds

Private Spaces added per-member spend control on every plan, GPT-5.6 landed at OpenAI, and Make's agent builder left closed beta. Updated rating, current pricing, and the per-persona pick vs n8n.

Pros
  • Private Spaces adds per-member credit caps on every plan, so an admin can cap a junior's spend without moving them off the org
  • The next-gen Make AI Agent builder is out of the closed-beta waitlist and documented as a shipping app in the help center
Cons
  • Still no self-hosting, so the credit meter never drops to zero the way a self-run n8n box does
  • Credit fan-out still bites at volume: an agent that calls five tools bills roughly six credits per run, and iterators multiply that fast

Make in July 2026 moves from 4.4 to 4.5. Private Spaces closes the governance gap the June review flagged, giving an admin per-member credit caps on every plan, and the next-gen agent builder that sat behind a closed-beta waitlist is now a documented, shipping app. For a solo non-developer operator, Make is still the pick. For a mixed-technical ops team that needs to cap what each member can spend without standing up a server, Make now edges n8n on governance. For a fully technical team that can run and patch Docker at volume, n8n still wins on cost, because self-hosting deletes the per-credit meter and nothing in July changes that.

Beehiiv Summer Release 2026: Five New Features and the Plan Upgrade They Change

Beehiiv launched Community, Copilot, Programmatic Ads, a new Visual Editor, and Group Subscriptions on July 16. Here is what each feature does, which plan gates it, and whether the SRE2026 promo changes your upgrade math.

Pros
  • Community lands on every paid plan and ties channels, direct messages, and gated spaces to your subscriber data, so retention signals live next to your list instead of in a Discord you do not own, per beehiiv's product update
  • Copilot is a native in-app AI operator that acts on your own subscriber data, and it extends to Claude and ChatGPT through beehiiv's MCP, which no other major newsletter platform matches in July 2026
Cons
  • Programmatic Ads is rolling out from a waitlist rather than switched on for everyone, so the passive ad-fill pitch is not something you can count on the day you upgrade
  • The rebuilt Visual Editor ships as an opt-in beta, not the default writing surface, so expect rough edges before it replaces the old editor

The Summer Release changes the plan decision in exactly two places. Upgrade to Scale at $43/mo the moment you want to move a Discord or Circle audience into beehiiv Community, since that is where the retention data starts connecting to your list. Step up to Max at $96/mo only if you are selling paid access to teams and need Group Subscriptions and its seat dashboard. Copilot and the rebuilt Visual Editor come without a hard plan gate, and Programmatic Ads rides the Scale-tier Ad Network but is still clearing a waitlist. If you were already close to upgrading, do it on annual billing with code SRE2026 for 20% off before July 31. If you sell courses rather than run a sponsored publication, Kit still fits better. Rated 4.5 of 5.
